Our history

Reliability and quality - since 1986

What began with a clear idea and a lot of commitment is now an established brand in occupational safety. Since our founding, we have been constantly evolving – always with the goal of providing users with tailored solutions and meeting the demands of a dynamic market.

1986

The beginning of a success story

AS Arbeitsschutz GmbH was founded on February 22, 1986, and has remained owner-managed to this day. Over the years, a small specialist in occupational safety and health has developed into a growing company with a clear focus, experience, and a firm place in the industry.

1996

The brand name NITRAS

Only ten years later, a crucial step followed: the registration of the NITRAS trademark. Since then, the name has stood for high-quality occupational safety solutions that customers throughout Europe rely on. Quality, function, and reliability – that is the standard we associate with the name NITRAS.

2000s

From hand protection to a full range

What began with hand and arm protection was systematically expanded: Starting in the late 1990s, our product range grew steadily: foot protection, eye protection, workwear – today we offer everything from a single source. NITRAS developed into a full-service provider for personal protective equipment.

2007

From Europe to Asia

In 2007, we established a purchasing office in Shanghai to optimize our communication with partners and ensure quality control directly on site. This strengthened our international structures and laid the foundation for even closer cooperation in Asia.

2015

New paths with NITRAS Medical

In 2015 expanded our portfolio to include NITRAS MEDICAL in response to the growing demand for medical equipment. With the founding of MCD Medical Care Dental GmbH, we responded specifically to the demand for disposable gloves, masks, and disinfectants – reliable and quickly available.

2022/2023

New logistics center

In 2022, construction began on our modern logistics center, which was built according to sustainable standards. We were able to complete it as early as 2023—a milestone that strengthens our efficiency and underscores our commitment to sustainability.

2024

AS Quality Center

In 2024, we launched the AS Quality Center. This step strengthens our internal quality assurance and lays the foundation for even higher standards and reliability in our product range.
