WHY HEAD PROTECTION IS SO IMPORTANT

The head is one of the most sensitive and important parts of our body. This makes it all the more important to protect this complex system reliably - especially in places where hazards such as impacts, falling objects, or confined workspaces are part of everyday reality. The right head protection ensures that the head remains optimally protected even under demanding conditions.

But not all head protection is the same: industrial safety helmets in accordance with EN 397 are designed for serious hazards and protect against falling loads and heavy mechanical impacts. Impact caps in accordance with EN 812, on the other hand, only offer protection against minor impact injuries, such as when bumping into machines, shelves, or hard edges. We will show you what really matters when making your selection – so that you can choose the right head protection for every situation and reliably protect your head from hazards.

INDUSTRIAL SAFETY HELMETS IN ACCORDANCE WITH EN 397

Industrial safety helmets in accordance with EN 397 are the first choice when there is a real danger of falling or moving loads. They must meet strict physical and mechanical requirements, which are tested under laboratory conditions – from shock absorption to penetration resistance. This ensures that, in the event of an accident, as little impact energy as possible is transmitted to the head.

What safety helmets are designed for:

+ Protection against falling objects
+ Reduction of impact energy
+ Prevention of serious head injuries such as skull fractures
+ Optional additional protective functions (e.g., extreme temperatures, electrical risks, or lateral deformation)

Industrial safety helmets are therefore indispensable in safety-critical areas such as industry, construction, logistics, or anywhere where heavy loads are moved, lifted, or transported. A safety helmet is no substitute for caution - but it protects when it matters most.

BUMP CAPS ACCORDING TO EN 812

Bump caps according to EN 812 look similar to classic baseball caps, but have an integrated shock-absorbing hard shell. They are specially designed to protect the head from minor impacts – such as collisions with machine components, shelves, or fixed edges in confined working areas. This significantly reduces the risk of lacerations and other superficial head injuries.

Bump caps are suitable for:

+ Protection against superficial injuries
+ Mitigation of impacts against hard, fixed objects
+ Working in confined areas, e.g., in workshops, vehicle service, warehouse aisles

Important: Impact caps do not offer protection against falling or thrown objects or hanging loads. They must therefore not be confused with industrial safety helmets or used as a substitute for them.
