Loud machines, screeching tools, booming production halls – noise is ubiquitous in many work areas. But what we often overlook: Even a permanent exposure of 80 dB(A) can damage hearing. Above 85 dB(A), suitable hearing protection is legally required. The problem: Hearing damage occurs gradually – and is irreversible. 2. Choose a fit: Not every headband or earbud type fits every wearer
3. Compatibility check: Especially for helmet fastenings (EN 352-3). Does the hearing protection fit the helmet and other PPE components?
4. Attention to care and hygiene: Ensure regular cleaning and replacement.
5. Ensure audibility of signals: Too much insulation can muffle acoustic warning signals – an individual risk assessment is required.
